Hanging curtains is a trouble thing.

You carefully measure your windows three times to get the exact dimensions, only to hang your curtain rods and realize they’re crooked. Now you have to start all over. Plus, you need to spackle, sand and paint the old drill holes to hide them — you’ve wasted hours and still haven’t hung up your curtains.

Luckily, hanging curtains and drapery doesn’t have to be such a pain. Here’s how to hang curtains without drilling holes or nails in your wall.

Alternative Ways to Hang Your Curtains Without Drilling
Put your drill and spackle aside. Here are four creative ways to hang curtains without drilling holes in your walls.

1. Coat Hooks
Coat hooks are a surprisingly versatile tool. Besides holding raincoats and bags, they can also be used to hang curtains.

To install them, intersperse the coat hooks at an even distance across the window. Loop the holes through each hook to hang your curtains.

Coat hooks are easier to hang than traditional curtain rod hardware and don’t require drilling. The only downside is that they require exact, precise measurements and opening and closing them is a pain. Curtain hooks are best for decorative windows that don’t need to be adjusted often.

2. Curtain Rod Brackets
There are two major obstacles to hanging curtains: accurately measuring them and damaging your walls.

The curtain rod brackets eliminate the pain of both those tasks. The revolutionary design takes minutes to install, requires zero measurements and doesn’t damage your wall.

Just position the brackets on the corners of your window frame, tap them in with a rubber mallet or hammer and they’re good to go. No damage, nails or drills, and you’ll achieve perfectly aligned curtains every time!

3. Command Hooks
Oh, Command Hooks. There are countless articles dedicated to the diverse uses and life hacks for Command Hooks, from hanging art, photos and keys to mounting routers to the wall.

Hanging curtains is one of their many creative uses — the same hooks you use for handyman tasks can pull double-duty as curtain rod holders.

To start, you’ll need at least two Command Hooks (if your window is longer than 30 inches, you’ll need a third Command Hook to support the middle).

Command Hooks come in brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze, so you can mix and match according to your décor. Metal Command Hooks are available in small, medium and large sizes. We recommend a large, so it fits the curtain rod.

When selecting a curtain rod, look for one with a thin diameter — less than ¾ inches. Any thicker, and it won’t be able to fit in the Command Hook.

After you’ve carefully measured the curtains, peel off the adhesive cover on the Command Hooks. One by one, press the Command Hook firmly onto the surface for at least 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side. Leave the hooks for at least 30 minutes before hanging your curtains.

Command Hooks can only hold up to five pounds of weight, so they’re not suitable for heavier curtains or drapes (or the constant wear and tear of kids and pets). While you can reuse them, Command Hooks lose their stickiness over time and aren’t the most durable solution.

4. Tension Rod Curtains
Tension rod curtains have rods that stretch from the inside of one window frame to the other. They’re a great alternative way to hang curtains — you can install them in minutes without any complicated measurements or installation.

Tension rod curtains have a few style options. You can position them at the top of the window or lower for a country curtain style.

Tension rod curtains are best for sheer, lighter fabrics. They’re not strong enough for heavier drapes or blackout curtains. Depending on the size of the window, you may need to order custom sizes, which can get tricky.

Hang Curtains Without Wall Damage
If you’re looking for the fastest, easiest way to put up your curtains without damaging the walls, know you can always count on Kwik-Hang’s curtain rod brackets to get the job done in no time.

The no-drill brackets are available in a variety of colors for both single and double curtain rods. Center support brackets are also available for extended window widths using curtain rods longer than 30”.

Plus, unlike Command Hooks or tension rods, brackets can support up to 20 pounds. You’ll be able to use traditional curtain rods or hang heavier drapes without worry.
